Heroes: Having someone who believes in you and who is there when you need them.
If it were not for my “online” heroes, I know I’d never have accomplished what I have in life. These folks are a click away. While I was writing this posting, I upgraded my status on Facebook and Linked-In, and within one minute, two friends had noticed and commented. At this point in my life and career, I get to work with my heroes on a regular basis, and add to this group through daily discoveries of people doing wonderful work. We need to harness the power of the immediacy of support we can bring to and receive from personal, collegial, community, and family ties in our online relationships. Dave Master’s “pay it forward” system is the best example I know of that shows how this can be done. For those of you not already familiar with his work, no worries, you will be introduced to him, as well as my other “heroes” in subsequent posts.
