Common Corazón: Getting to the Heart of Learning

Shifting from “percentages” to “performance” does not mean leaving behind the cultural, emotional and creative aspects of learning, and that in fact we can only bring everyone to higher levels of performance by honoring who students are, where they come from and what they and their communities bring to our society. This is particularly important in a “minority majority” state like New Mexico, my home. I will be drawing on successes in ELA and Math from around our state, as well as interdisciplinary work in STEM that we helped design for the Air Force Research Lab.
