The laudable idea of improving student results is confounded with counter productive baggage stemming from misunderstanding and outright political manipulation. The focus ought to be on Teaching Effectiveness, as only teams of educators can produce the desire results.

Discerning between helpful and destructive efforts on educator evaluation is made easier by considering whether the goal is to “sort and sift” students and schools, or to improve capacity among all participants in learning organizations. The two efforts are mutually incompatible.
